
John was born June 3, 1947 in Lorraine, TX. He attended W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, TX. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX, where he graduated Cum Laude. In 1981, he became duly qualified to practice engineering by the State of Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners. During his life, he has worked for ALCOA in Texas, Tennessee Copper, AMOCO in Texas and Alabama, and HCS Engineering in Alabama.
John is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Judyth; three children, Michael Parish (Susan) of Seabrook, TX, Laura Middleton (Kirk) of Friendswood, TX, and Julie Parish of Avalon (Catalina Island), CA; six grandchildren, Sean, MaKayla, MaKenzie, MaKenna, Joshua, and Noah; and two brothers, Dr. Leslie J. Parish (Irene) of Centreville, VA, and James G. Parish (Deborah) of Austin, TX.
John was an Eagle Scout. In his free time, he volunteered coaching youth baseball. He liked woodworking and tinkering around the house. Due to his love for fishing and boating, he was a life member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. He also enjoyed working with computers. One of his fondest memories was rebuilding a Model T with his father as a teenager.
John was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He thoroughly enjoyed ensuring that his children and grandchildren enjoyed family time at his and Judy’s home on Smith Lake.
