Funeral for John Milton Quarles Jr., 70, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Edgefield First Baptist Church, Edgefield, S.C. with the Rev. Stacy Williams officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at Southside Baptist Church in Decatur, Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 2 p.m.

Mr. Quarles passed away February 18, 2011, at his home. He was born May 19, 1940 to John Milton Quarles Sr. and Margaret McGee Quarles. John Quarles Jr. was a 1963 graduate of Clemson University. He served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in the First Reconnaissance Squadron, Second Armored Calvary Regiment from 1963 to 1965. He retired from the position of CEO/President of Wolverine Tube Inc. in 1998. After retiring from Wolverine, John and Anne made their home in Destin, Fla. where he enjoyed fishing and boating. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Anne Timmerman Quarles; daughters, Michelle Quarles Patterson (Frank), Kimbrely Quarles Pickell (Randolph), Deborah Quarles Oglesby (Richard); sister, Frances Quarles Hinely; grandchildren, Whitney Michelle Guinn (Shaun), John Pelham West Pickell, Reid Edward Oglesby and Grant Evan Oglesby.
