Joyce Marie Redding Carter was born at home on Christmas Eve of 1932 in Decatur, Alabama, to Ethel Elizabeth Powers Redding & William Joseph Redding. She was married to and immeasurably loved by Oliver Carter for 62 years. She entered Heavenly rest the evening of January 12, 2018, just three and a half months following her husband’s entrance into Heavenly rest.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who left a legacy of grace, beauty and timeless love for her daughter and granddaughters. She was a member of Austinville Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughter Jan Clemons (John), granddaughters Julie Huismann (Scott), Katie Shell (Kyle), and her great-granddaughter Emmie Ruth Shell with whom she was enchanted until her very last breath.
The family will have a private graveside service Monday, January 15, 2018. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
