

Judy Elizabeth Barnes, of Decatur, passed away on August 31, 2026. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be Friday, September 4, 2026 at 1:00pm at First Methodist Church of Hartselle with Pastor Jack Lovelace to officiate.
Judy Barnes is survived by her husband of 27 years, Randy Barnes and two daughters, Lisa (Byron) Hood and Andrea (Luke) Patterson and their father, Jimmy Hill; and two sons, Lane Barnes and Greg (Ashley) Barnes; two grandchildren, Blake Barnes and Coles Barnes; three sisters, Cleo (Ray) Nowell, Nina (Donnie) Mitchell, Jeannie (Johnny) Harwell; one special cousin, Pam (Ed) Smith and many cousins, nieces and nephews in the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene R. Slater and Mack Ellen (Pete) Grant; one brother, Robert “Buddy” Slater; a special aunt Ruth Nichols Hackett; and her sweet mother-in-law, Elnora “Glee” Barnes.
Judy was born in Decatur, AL., on March 7, 1947. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Lisa and Andrea. Judy met the love of her life on September 3, 1997, Randy Barnes. Randy and Judy had a wonderful marriage for 27 years. They travelled to many places enjoying the beautiful scenery and beaches throughout the country.
Judy owned and operated Let’s Do Lunch for over 20 years where she shared her famous chicken salad sandwiches and sourdough bread with numerous people throughout the area.
Judy had an amazing collection of snowmen which brought a smile to her face. She loved driving her many Corvettes, which she insisted on being a manual transmission so she could shift through the gears. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a fabulous mom, a special sister and a friend with an infectious smile.
Pallbearers will be Blake Barnes, Cole Barnes, Dave Calix, Mike Fite, Charles Hough and H.M. Nowlin and honorary pallbearers, Sam Glover, Mike Poovey, Mike Shreck.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s honor to Loyd Homes, Terrell Industries or Hospice Family Care.
The family would like to give a special thank you and gratitude for the wonderful care provided by the nurses, caregivers and staff at The Neighborhood of Priceville, formerly The Terrace.
