Katie Jane Jernigan

Ms. Katie Jane Jernigan, age 88 of Lacey's Spring, Alabama passed away on August 29, 2025 at her home. Katie was born February 14, 1937 in New Market, AL. She was one of nine children born to her parents John Lee & Ola May Pendergraft. Katie worked at GTE on the production line before retiring. Katie was soft spoken, strong and a wonderful mom and grandma. She was a member of Valhermoso Baptist Church.

Katie spent her time with family, working in her flower beds.

Katie preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Jernigan; parents, John Lee & Ola May Pendergraft; granddaughter, Valerie Leann Campbell; son-in-law, Richard Campbell; sisters, Iva Jean Lamb, Rachel Lamb, Betty Jo Pendergraft, Alta Moore, and Alice Faye Brewer; brothers, Joseph (Mousey) Pendergraft, James (Buddy) Cagle, and Robert Pendergraft.

She survived by daughter, Cathey Campbell; sons, Dennis Brewer Jr. (Cindy) and David Brewer (Cindy); grandchildren, Mandy Brewer (Micheal), Tiffany Mitchell (Zack), Casey Campbell (Matt), and DJ Brewer (Erica; great- grandchildren, Koletyn Williams, Rylie Brewer, Kimber Mitchell, Cadence Thornberry, Alainna Brewer, Caroline Mitchell, Hazel Mitchell, Arianna Brewer, and Zoey Brewer.

A visitation for Ms. Jernigan will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valhermoso Baptist Church. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro Craye Hall officiating. She will be laid to rest at Valhermoso Baptist Church Cemetery.
