

Funeral services for Leo Michael Spain, age 77, will be Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church with Reverend Raymond Remke officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery following the service.
Mr. Spain died June 17, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 4, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa, to William Joseph Spain and Marguerite Walsh Spain. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Spain, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy Helm Spain, with whom he would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on June 23rd of this year; two daughters: Maureen Spain of Memphis, Tennessee, and Kathleen Borden (Shane) of Decatur; two sons: Michael Spain (Trudi) of Nixa, Missouri, and Daniel Spain (Shereece) of Waynesville, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Daniel and Jessica Spain; Davis, Calvin, and August Whitt; and Alyssa and Noah Borden; and one brother, James Spain of Chicago, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 240 Johnston Street, SE, in Decatur, Alabama, 35601 or Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church Building Fund at 1310 Spring Avenue, SW, in Decatur, Alabama, 35603.
