Lorene Edwards

Lorene Edwards, 85, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023. Her visitation will be on Monday April 10, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be on Tuesday at 12:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.

Ms. Edwards is survived by her 11 children, Anthony Roden (Nancy), Judy Steele, Linda Messina, Mark Edwards, Darrell Edwards, Rita Hazel, Wanda Edwards, Lisa Edwards, Deborah Henry (Curtis), Charlie Edwards and Ashley Rutherford (Keith); one sister, one brother, 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her one son, Steve Roden and parents, Huett and Myrtle Dotson.

Ms. Edwards was a homemaker her entire life. She raised 12 children and multiple grandchildren. Her unwavering faith and love for God was exemplified with her study with The Jehovah Witness, where she met and maintained lifelong friendships. Ms. Edwards was known throughout the community as a very loving, caring and compassionate lady. Her daily activities included being with and surrounded by her children, which was her top priority. Ms. Edwards was the glue that held her family together. In her words, “ Y’all stick together!”

Pallbearers will be Curtis Henry, Xavier Thomas, Brandon Edwards, Lloyd (Mac) McHenry, Jaeden Messina and Darrell Edwards.
