Lynne Freeman, 81, of Athens, passed away on February 25, 2026. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 6:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Deterrian Shackelford officiating.
Lynne is survived by her son, Russell Freeman, two grandsons, Brickston and Barrett Freeman, sister, Nancy Tray (James), and nieces, Amy O’Hern (Robert) and Robyn Collins (Alex) and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sid and Cadie Blaikie and her brother Tom Blaikie (Carolyn) and her nephew Joseph Tray.
Lynne was a school teacher for Decatur City Schools for 42 years. She taught at West Decatur, Brookhaven Middle School, and Cedar Ridge Middle School. She was very proud of this and loved running into her former students around Decatur. Lynne also enjoyed meeting up with her retired teachers group for lunch and sharing memories once a month. Most of all she enjoyed time with her son and grandsons, and she was always up for an impromptu road trip with her three boys.
