A native of Athens, she was a graduate of Athens High School. She lived most of her life in Decatur, where she met her husband, Wilson "Bill" Burleson. They were married more than 70 years, until his death earlier this year.
Survivors include sons, Alan, of Huntsville and James and wife, Judy, of Athens; four grandchildren, Nina Lawler of Kentucky, Joy White, Wade Caldwell and Connie Honey, all of Athens; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She joined the Methodist church when she was eight years old. She belonged to Tanner United Methodist until transferring her membership to Austinville United Methodist, where she was a member of more than 50 years.
Visitation will be Monday at Austinville United Methodist Church from 10 to 11 a.m. with the memorial service following. Officiating will be the Rev. Dallas Culver and Dr. Wayne Boyles.
