Mary Ann McBay

Mary Ann McBay, 92, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Her visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church Tanner. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, at the church with Bro Gary Enfinger and Bro Mike Kelley officiating. She will be laid to rest at Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Janis Rolin; son, Steve McBay (Melanie); grandchildren, Sharon Boyd (Paul), Mikki Wooten (Kasey), Jason Massey (Mikki), Jason Rolin (Amy), Shaun McBay (Angela), Shannon McBay (Brittany), and Jake Moore (Ashlee); 24 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verna McBay; parents, Eddie and Leon Pressnell; son, Jeffery Don; nephew, Marty Pressnell; brother, Kenneth Pressnell and son in law, Vernon Rolin.

Mary Ann loved God more than anything else in this world and demonstrated this to everyone through her daily actions. She would pray heaven down for you as she gently reminded you to keep your P's & Q's. As a family friend stated, she was the epitome of Southern Charm with just the right amount of sass.

Mary Ann kept her family laughing with her quirks, like forgetting the groceries at the grocery store, reminding them to find grace and joy in life's little mishaps. She loved to travel, and it didn't matter where; just crank the car, and she was ready to go.

She was a member of Tanner Methodist most of her life but moved her membership to Tanner Baptist several years ago. Until March of this year, Mary Ann attended most every Sunday, even in her wheelchair. Going to church to hear God's word was her biggest blessing.

Mary Ann was the matriarch of her family, a prayer warrior, and always a comfort. Even though she will be missed, there is peace knowing she is healed and walking with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pallbearers will be Grady Swanner, Hershel Swanner, Barry Pressnell, Mike Swanner, Joey Swanner, and Larry Miles.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and granddaughters.
