Mary Ann Hasenbein Smith of Decatur, AL passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Visitation will be on Monday, October 5 at 10am at Roselawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:30am at Roselawn Cemetery and will be officiated by her nephew-in-law, David Warren.
Mary Ann was born in Cullman, AL and was 92 years old. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She also loved working as a substitute teacher with students with disabilities. She was a member of the Red Hat Club and enjoyed life to the fullest. The last few years of her life were spent under the loving care of the Westminster of Decatur staff where she was known as Mae Mae. She attended St. Luke United Methodist Church, and her favorite verse was Psalm 23.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Smith; sisters Mildred McLemore, Florence Lee and Ruth (Boots) Lee; brother Robert (Bob) Hasenbein; and son-in-law Larry Wayne Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Janet Johnson; granddaughters Laura Olive (Franklin) and Jessica Crumpton (Chris); and great grandchildren Tyler Olive, Ella Olive, Addison Crumpton and Tatum Crumpton.
Pallbearers will be Jim Ward, Franklin Olive, Chris Crumpton, and Tyler Olive.
