Melissa Lynn Lance

Melissa passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with stage four cancer with family surrounding her on July 11, 2025 she was 58 years old.

She graduated from Decatur High School and retired from the Morgan County School System. She was the school bus Routing Specialist. Her true passion was animal rescue, and she started Rescue Rangers, a 501C3 tax exempt non-profit rescue. She spoke out for all the animals that are voiceless. There wasn’t an animal in need, she wouldn’t try to help in any way she could.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Winford Ray Eubanks; her father, Jasper Thomas Lance (Tom); stepmother, JoAnn Lance; mother, Doris Folds Lance Smith; stepfather, Brian Smith; brother, Tommy Lance; sister-in-law, Gina Boutwell Lance; sister, Sabrina Lance Terry and brother-in-law, Donny Terry.

At Melissa’s request there will be no arrangements. Donation maybe made in Melissa’s memory to Berry’s Animal Clinic 1651 S Bethel Rd Decatur, Al. 35603, in care of Lori Slaten. Lori is still taking care of a few of our senior rescue hospice animals. All Donations go to their care and medication.
