Phillip Sanford Jr., 67, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2026, surrounded by family. Visitation will be held at Destiny Church Riverside, 1404 Point Mallard Pkwy, Decatur, AL 35601, on July 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 p.m. Committal will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Phillip was the loving husband of Brenda Sanford, with whom he shared 18 wonderful years of marriage. He was the beloved father of Melissa (James) Lawrence. He is also survived by his grandsons, Brett and Cameron Mayse; great-granddaughter, Kali Charlotte Mayse; sister, Rhonda (Jeffery) Waugh; nieces Alisha White and Rachel (Jacob) Crowell and their children; and his faithful canine companion, Max.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Andrew Sanford, and his mother, Carol Jean Crow.
Phillip worked with Baxter Inc. for many years and, in recent years, as a porter for Lynn Layton Ford. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working on cars, and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Those who knew him will remember his love for the Lord, his faithful service to his church, and his willingness to help others. He loved a good laugh and was known for his quick wit and humor.
Though he will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind, our faith assures us that this world is our temporary home and that our eternal home is with our Lord and Savior.
