Robert Henry Martin

Robert “Bo” Henry Martin, 35, of Decatur, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2026.

Bo was a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished son, a beloved brother, and the most loyal friend you could ever be blessed with knowing. Above all else, he was a family man. He loved deeply, laughed often, and had a gift for making those around him feel seen, valued, and cared for with his soft-spoken words. His kindness, tender heart, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 28, 1991, to Denise Abrams and Ned Martin, Bo lived a life centered around serving others, especially children. He found great purpose in his work as a Life Skills Facilitator and DYS Tutor, where he poured his heart into mentoring, encouraging, and supporting underprivileged youth. Bo believed that everyone deserved someone who believed in them, and he made it his mission to be that person for the young people in his care. He stood beside them, encouraged them, and reminded them of their worth.

When Bo wasn’t investing in the lives of others, there was a good chance you could find him cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Fall Saturdays belonged to Alabama football. Every touchdown was celebrated, every game was watched with passion, and he proudly wore his crimson whenever he could. Whether surrounded by family and friends or watching from home, Bo rarely missed a kickoff. His love for Alabama athletics was more than a pastime; it was one of the simple joys that brought him happiness and created countless memories with the people he loved.

One of Bo’s greatest joys was teaching his son, Jackson, how to play basketball. Basketball was a sport he loved deeply and was exceptionally talented in. Anyone who had the opportunity to watch Bo play knew the gift he had on the court. The game challenged him, excited him, and gave him memories he carried throughout his life. But perhaps what meant the most was being able to share that love of basketball with Jackson. Teaching his son the game he loved gave Bo another way to pass along his passion, his patience, and pieces of himself that will live on through Jackson for years to come.

Bo is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kathy Martin; his beloved son, Jackson Martin; his parents, Denise Abrams (Michael) and Ned Martin (Joy); his siblings, David Martin (Klae), Maggie Martin, and Sam Martin; his niece, Olivia Martin; his grandmother Sonia Martin; and many extended family members, friends, coworkers, and former students whose lives were forever touched by his compassion, encouragement, and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Paul Martin; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Christine Sammons; and his paternal grandparent, Henry Gee.

A Celebration of Life honoring Bo will be held at Bcoming Church in Decatur, Alabama, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate his life, share stories, and remember the love, laughter, faith, and kindness he brought into the lives of so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Decatur Youth Services in Bo’s honor. Donations will help continue the work that meant so much to him and support the young people he cared for so deeply.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support they have received during this incredibly difficult time. They ask that you continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers and, most importantly, remember Bo not only for the day he left this world, but for the remarkable way he lived.

Bo’s life was a gift to the people who knew and loved him. His memory will continue to live on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, the people he encouraged, and most of all, in the family he loved so dearly.
