Funeral for Eddie Stanton, 79, of Decatur will be Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scotty Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Stanton, who died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at NHC Moulton, was born July 30, 1933, in Monroeville to Rufus W. Stanton and Margaret Fore Stanton. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a B.S. in chemical engineering. He worked as a metallurgical engineer at Wolverine Tube for 25 years, and Phelps Dodge in Anniston and National Copper in Huntsville. Mr. Stanton was a member of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church, Decatur, where he met his wife of 53 years and was a Sunday school teacher. He later became a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church while living in Huntsville where he taught children's Sunday school and helped with Vacation Bible School and was a present member of Westmeade Baptist Church, Decatur. His hobbies were hunting, gardening, cooking, traveling and Alabama football. His father preceded him in death.
