Sina Corene Thomas

Sina was born to William Thomas Bishop and Ila Belle Scogin Bishop. She graduated from Phillips High School, Bear Creek, Alabama, in May 1952. On May 23, 1952, she married the love of her life, William Doyal Thomas, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 66 years until his passing on September 28, 2018.

Together, Sina and William were blessed with three children: Terry Alan Thomas, Rhonda Thomas Gilbreath, and Regina “Gina” Thomas Jones.

While her greatest joy was her family, Sina’s life’s mission was serving alongside her husband in ministry. For 48 years, she faithfully fulfilled the role of a pastor’s wife, as William pastored Baptist churches throughout Alabama, Texas, and West Virginia.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Terry Thomas and wife, Jewell; daughters, Rhonda Gilbreath and husband, Glenn, and Gina Jones and husband, David; six grandchildren, Timothy Thomas and wife, Heather, Amanda Vandiver and husband, Michael, Eric Gilbreath and wife, Melissa, Ryan Gilbreath, Christine Wise and husband, Zachary, and Dianna Rhoden; seven great-grandchildren, Matelyn Thomas, Rose Vandiver, Ivy Gilbreath, William Wise, Allison Wise, Lincoln Rhoden, and Aaleigha Rhoden; her sister, Nelda Bishop Wilson and husband, Gary; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Doyal Thomas; her parents, William Thomas Bishop and Ila Belle Scogin Bishop; her brother, Thomas Arlie Bishop; and her sister, Judy Bishop King.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 202 Mill Road, Decatur, Alabama. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Bryce Page officiating. Burial will be held at Burningtree Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice.
