Memorial service for Steve Wooten, 62, of Montgomery will be Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 2 p.m. at The Marriott at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Prattville. Visitation will immediately follow the memorial service.
Mr. Wooten was residing with his sister in Decatur at the time of his death, June 6, 2011. He was born December 30, 1948, in Selma to Brit N. Wooten and Johnnie Durden Wooten. Mr. Wooten began his career in the early 1970's as a Juvenile Probation Supervisor for the Family Court of Montgomery County in addition to working for the State of Alabama in early 2000 as a Juvenile Jail Compliance Monitor. He co-authored several guides pertaining to Juvenile Probation and Domestic Violence Cases for Alabama Juvenile Courts. He received an award for Volunteer of the Year for his many years of service as Sound and Light Coordinator for the Alabama Dance Theater. Mr. Wooten was a dedicated Auburn Alumni, a diverse patron of music and the arts and an avid golfer.
Survivors include one sister, Lynn Allen of Decatur; one brother, Pete Wooten of Decatur; brother-in-law, Kenneth Allen of Decatur; two nieces, Jennifer Allen Brown and Beth Allen, both of Destin, Fla.; one nephew, Brit Allen of Rohnert Park, Calif.; and one great-nephew, J.D. Brown of Destin, Fla.
