

Violet Lou Chaffin Kucera, a long-time Hillsboro resident, passed away Tuesday, December 29th at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Kucera was born April 19, 1933 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Duke T. Chaffin and Zelma Lou Barnett Chaffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Melba Mae Chaffin Swift, and sons Derrick Vincent Kucera and Duke Kevin Kucera.
Mrs. Kucera is survived by her husband of 65 years, Rudolph Joseph Kucera; one son, Rudolph Joseph Kucera, Jr.; one daughter, Katherine Kucera Joseph; one grandson, Tobia Nicholas Joseph, Jr. (Laura) of Helena; and two great-grandchildren, Anna Katherine Joseph and Johnathan Marshall Joseph; sister JoAnne Chaffin Upchurch of Columbus, Mississippi and brother Duke Collins (Sonny) Chaffin of Foley, Alabama.
Mrs. Kucera graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, and worked for the United States Census Bureau for over 20 years. Upon retirement, Mrs. Kucera and her husband, spent time traveling. They visited every state in the US along with numerous other countries. She spent the balance of her life supporting her family and community. An avid reader, Mrs. Kucera was well-known for her generosity, kindness, and candor. A devoted member of the Resurrection Catholic Chapel, Mrs. Kucera will be remembered by her family and community for her extraordinary faithfulness and service. Church services for Mrs. Kucera will be held 3PM Friday 1/08/2016 at the Morris Chapel Resurrection Catholic Chapel @ 4826 Co. Rd. 217 Hillsboro, AL, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Resurrection Catholic Chapel at 4826 County Road 217, Hillsboro, Alabama or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
