Funeral for William Harvey Elrod, Jr., 87, will be Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Decatur, with the Rev. Charles Boling officiating. Burial will be in Fort Payne. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Elrod, who passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Tutt Fann State Veterans Home, Huntsville, was born May 29, 1925 in Opelika to William Harvey Elrod and Sidney Allison Elrod. Mr. Elrod served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines and New Guinea; was Deputy Attorney General, State of Alabama 1963-1967; graduate of Birmingham Southern Summa Cum Laude; University of Michigan Law School graduate; member of the ABA and BBA; former president of Morgan County Bar Association; presented oral argument to the United States Supreme Court; partner of Hatsen and Elrod Law Firm.
He is survived by his brother, Dr. Bruce Allison Elrod (Virginia); nephews, Gary A. Elrod (Lou) and Harvey S. Elrod; niece, France L. Elrod; and paralegal, Mary Frances Walker.
