William Gerald Patterson

Funeral Services will be Monday, February 16, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bryan Blass and Dr. Chris Martin officiating with interment at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Gerald is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Ilene Patterson, Owens Crossroads

He is survived by a Special Cousin Patricia Cosby, Georgia, Two Aunts: Dorothy Elkins and Evelyn Hopkins, both of Owens Crossroads, these dear and special friends and assistant care givers, Roberta Gray (Old Woman), Calvin/Lavern Cathcartt, Slim/Mamie Haga, Steve Haga, Mike/Linda Richards and several cousins and many friends.

Gerald was an outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish and took pride in his gardening and yard work. He will be remembered as a “man of few words” but always willing to help his fellowmen. He has resided in Decatur for 35 years and retired from GE in 1998. He also served in the U.S. Army.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Frazier, Calvin Cathcart, Slim Haga, Steve Haga, Mike Richards and Donald Pace.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Baptist Church, In Between Sunday School Class, 2801 Highway 31 South, Decatur, AL. 35603 or to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Van Fund, 772 Pleasant Hill Road, Decatur, AL. 35603.

A very special thank you and heart felt gratitude to Alacare Hospice and Home Health Care, Dr. Becdach and his entire staff at Clearview Cancer Institute and Dr. Robert Allen for his many years of untiring care and concern.
