Max was born February 26, 1941 to Alfred Michael and Annie Laurie Seagle. Max was in high school when he moved from Salisbury, NC to Decatur, AL. He graduated from Decatur High School June 1, 1959 and attended Athens Bible College. He worked at the Boys Club on 4th St. and spoke of that time often. Max worked for and retired from 3M Decatur. Max was an athlete, an accomplished runner, cyclist and swimmer (swimming being his least favorite). His best 10K time was 42 minutes. He qualified for the Boston Marathon with a 3 hour 13 minute time. He qualified for the Ironman Triathlon. He was rated in Runner's World Magazine in the Top 100 ULTRA Distance runners in the United States men over age 50 division. Max had lots of "running buddies" like Phillip Parker and Larry Duke. He had a great work family at 3M. When he wasn't working, running, cycling, or swimming he was mowing his beloved grass diagonal because that's the way HE liked it! Max was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church were his mother Annie Laurie Seagle taught kindergarten. He was loved and respected by his nephews, and he loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
