

Ann Rothenberg's story begins in Brooklyn. Her mother, Suzan, and father, Michael, also had three sons:John, Andrew and Edward. Growing up, her life was centered around her family and church. Ann enjoyed school and was involved in church activities, including Comp fraternity dance, attending basketball games, and roller skating. During the summers, she went to the beach after church on Sundays. She met the love of her life, her late husband, Matt, through a family friend, Fred. They started dating and Matt completed his military service in the US Navy. They were married and shared a small apartment in Brooklyn above her parents. Ann and Matt had Chinese food every Friday night and went to movies or bowling on Saturday. Sunday was always a family dinner at her parent's apartment. They enjoyed taking drives in the country and often got lost. They both worked and decided to pursue the American dream of a home in the suburbs. They followed a newspaper ad for new homes in Deer Park. Ann's life changed when she welcomed a baby girl, Suzan. She was the original Mama bear. Her children came first. Four years later, they welcomed Jeffrey. He cried a lot and Suzan wanted them to take him back. Ann and Matt worked and raised their family. She loved her family. Ann was tough as nails with a heart of gold. Ann loved working. After work, she enjoyed a cold beer or shot of scotch. She was passionate about everything around her being clean, neat, and organized. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She saw the beauty of nature as God's gift to us. She made amazing potato pancakes. She enjoyed writing letters to friends and family and wanted everyone to be remembered on birthdays, anniversaries, or just wrote an inspirational letter, if someone needed words of encouragement. Ann and Matt retired and moved to Florida. Missing the change of seasons and their daughter and grandchildren, they later moved to Virginia.Annand Matt took an active role in raising their grandchildren. Ann became involved in Christian Ministries. She was in several prayer groups at Resurrection church in Bedford. An volunteered at Ram house and helped with church fundraisers. In her later years, Ann resided in Middletown, NY and then moved back to Long Island. Suzan and Jeff felt blessed that she was their mom. When she came into their lives, it was like hitting the lottery. their hearts are broken and they will love her and miss her every day until they meet again. Ann lived a full life, and her work here is done. May she greet those who have passed before her and enjoy her reward in heaven. Ann is survived by her children, Susan & Jeff (Anna-Maria), grandchildren Shanell, Parker (Richard) & Ryder, and great-granddaughter Huntley.
