Barbara Ann Mical passed peacefully in her sleep at home on February 5, 2024, at age 84. She was born on May 17, 1939, to Mae Sichel and John Walters in the Bronx. Barbara spent her childhood in Babylon, NY. She left school to care for her ill father, so was never able to finish her education at Babylon High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald James Mical in 1961. They raised two daughters, Annamarie and Barbarann. She worked as a home health aide, and lovingly cared for infants in the foster care system. She loved her time at the senior citizen center and made many friends there, but her lifelong best friend is Marie Loturco. Barbara kept busy with word search puzzles, loved making ceramics, and enjoyed a friendly card game. Atlantic City was her choice vacation spot; slot machines were her favorite entertainment. She adorned her living room with an extensive collection of Precious Moment figurines. There was also evidence in her home that she was a lifetime Elvis Presley fan; anything with his image was the right gift choice for her! Grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her as their loving “Gigi.” Barbara’s bright smile and infectious laugh will be missed by friends and family. Her daughters knew her not just as their mom, but as their dearest friend. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald, and sisters
Jeanette Morale, Joan Walters, Mae Walters, Sandy Walthers, and Betty Martinez. She is survived by her sister, Marion Bossiere, daughters Annamarie Quinn (John Joseph “Jay” Quinn), Barbarann Boylan (Michael Boylan), grandchildren Shannon Quinn, Kayla Mary Quintero (Antonio Quintero), Sarah Spallone (Vinnie Spallone), Nicole Boylan, Brianna Boylan, great-grandchildren Kristian and Olivia Quintero, Brayden Berge, Aria Spallone, and many nieces and nephews. Everyone will miss Barbara’s marvelous sense of humor and her way of making any family gathering into a party. Visiting hours for Barbara will be held Friday, February 9, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM and from 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM at Boyd-Caratozzolo funeral home. A prayer service will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 at 7:45 PM. The burial will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Saint Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY.
