

Catherine L. Antonelli, nee DePaola, of North Babylon, NY, passed away at her home on October 5, 2025 at the age of 90. Catherine was born on December 10, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Frank “Dip” and Rose DePaola. The eldest of four daughters, she grew up enjoying movies and basketball.
Catherine married Carmine T. Antonelli in1955, relocating to Deer Park, NY in the early 1960s, where they raised four children. A homemaker for years, she later worked as an executive secretary at East Nassau Medical Group, and remained close friends with the “hippies.”
A lover of travel, Catherine enjoyed time in West Palm Beach. She delighted in adventures with her sisters and friends to the Grand Canyon and the pyramids of Mexico City. Closer to home, she enjoyed trips to Atlantic City to play the slots. Her most cherished place to visit was Beach Lake, PA where her family gathered for nearly 60 summers.
Catherine had a love for fashion, shopping and bargains. She was a proud Grandma of seven, her lipstick kisses became a beloved part of every family gathering. Deeply Catholic, Catherine attended daily Mass for many years and prayed the rosary daily.
Catherine is greeted in Heaven by her husband, Carmine, her sister, Josephine “Chippy”, brother-in-law Fran Bowman, and her cousins, Roseann and Carmine Orlando. She is survived by her sisters Colleen and Francine DePaola; her children, John (Kathleen) Antonelli, RoseMarie Petrie, Frank (Debbie) Antonelli, and Catherine (Michael) Faccibene; and her grandchildren, Matthew (Caroline), Kaitlyn, Alex, Joey, Jack (Julia), Frankie and Patrick. She will be greatly missed.
In honor of Catherine’s vibrant spirit and love of color, feel free to wear bright colors to celebrate her—especially her favorites: orange, red, and purple.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Special Olympics or Long Island Cares in her name are appreciated.
Visitation will be held at Claude R. Boyd/Caratozzolo Funeral Home, located at 1785 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, New York, 11729, on October 9, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at SS. Cyril & Methodius RC Church in Deer Park, NY, on October 10, 2025, from 10:15 am to 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
