David Ortiz

June 25, 1982March 22, 2012

David Ortiz - On the morning of March 22 while riding his bicycle to work in San Diego, David was struck by a car and sustained fatal injuries. He was 29 years old. He was a devoted husband, a loving son, an inspirational big brother, a caring nephew and a dear friend to many. David was an amazing and selfless person who followed in his grandfather's footsteps. He brought joy and happiness to all the lives he touched.

Your disabled aunts Cindy and Jenny are being taken care of, and Jenny knows about your departure. She is sad, but will make it through along with the rest of us. Please watch over them too. Love you always son~

Mother's Day will be approaching son, and it will be the most "painful" holiday for me out of ALL the holidays, but I know that you will be there with me always and forevermore with your wonderful and upbeat self! Continue to help others, be happy, enjoy life, etc., up in heaven, watching down upon us, for your "mission" may have been completed on earth, but we will continue "our missions" in life to follow in the same pattern that you have bestowed on the rest of us! RIP son--see you on the other side! Love you lots!!!

Eternal rest onto him, oh LORD, and may your perpetual light shine upon him. May David's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through YOUR mercy, rest in peace. Amen. May God give you strength, courage, and grace to get your family through this hard time and to see there still is a future ahead of you to fulfill. David was called home and will be waiting for you and watching over you. Armanda (Kritikos) Zinger

"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

This poem makes me think of David. His energy, enthusiasm, contagious laugh, and outgoing nature made him an instant friend to those of us that were lucky enough to have met him. His adventurous spirit was inspirational. He will always be remembered. My deepest condolences to Evelyn and the family.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing David, but I am still just as heart broken. I worked with Evelyn for a short time and she left a impression on me. Looking through the photo gallery of photos I can tell that David was a great brother, uncle, son and husband. My prayers are with her, and David's love ones. Stay strong for each other.

I only met David a few times but I was always struck by his positive nature and his love of life. Even if it was years between our meetings - he would treat me as a friend. My deepest condolences to his family.

David, you were one of my best friends here in San Diego. Always full of jokes, laughter, smiles, and fun times. I'll never forget sharing a Korean BBQ Christmas with you and Evelyn. You're dearly missed my friend and I look forward to the day our paths cross again.

It will be especially hard for me come the holidays of your untimely passing son, but I know in my heart that you are watching down upon us and making sure that we are strengthened with your love and wisdom upon myself, your brother and your two handicap aunts, for we will now carry on for you son. You did so many wonderful things for us in your life, and now your "teachings", since you were a great navigator, will be passed onto your sibling. I know Michael will do a great job of things, for he looked up to you for support and leadership, which you "strongly" possessed, on top of making us laugh. Love you always son, and know that we will make you proud and happy just like you have made us proud and happy. You will be forever missed. May God bless you always! Love you and miss you~Mom* xoxox

David, you will be forever missed, but I am happy to have known you and I know you have left an indelible mark on all the lives you have touched. Recollecting some of the times we spent together, there were always a lot of wide smiles and big laughs, and sometimes some random dancing.

That is what will live on in the hearts of your family and friends, and we will remember you always.
