Frances Pisciotto

Frances Lena Pisciotto (Sgro), age 98 of Seaford, NY, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Frances was born June 22, 1926 in Manhattan, NY and was the daughter of the late Vito and Providenza (Norcia) Sgro.

At a young age, Frances started working in the factory in New York City as a seamstress to help take care of her family. This is where her passion for creativity and interior design was born. It was there that she met her sister-in-law Helen, who introduced her to the love of her life, Andy. She wrote Andy letters while he was in WWII and there sparked their love story. They built a beautiful family with their three children and moved from Brooklyn, NY to Seaford in 1952.

Frances enjoyed hosting family parties and holidays always making sure everyone was well fed with an open house to all friends and neighbors. She was proud of the home she created and found joy in her garden as well as sewing clothes and curtains for all. Her grandchildren have fond memories being in her kitchen making many meals including pizza, Sunday sauce, struffoli, cuccidati cookies, vasetedda sandwiches and many more.

Frances' legacy was her family and making sure they were always taken care of. As the eldest of four kids, she looked after her baby brothers her whole life. She was the rock we all counted on and taught us to live life with grace, love, faith and humor in the best and worst of times. Her love extended beyond our family. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, turning strangers into friends with her warmth and genuine interest in their lives.

Frances is survived by her daughters and sons-in law Ernestine and her husband George Picone of Pine Bush, NY and Prudence and her husband Vincent Ferrone of Dix Hills, NY and brother, Louis Sgro of Massapequa, NY. Beloved grandmother of Michael, Melissa (Trevor), Christopher, Laura, Victoria (Jack), Alexandra (Christopher) and Peter Andrew as well as great-grandchildren Peyton Andie, Emily Marie and Miles Benjamin. Frances was a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Andrew Pisciotto and son, Peter Pisciotto as well as her brothers Frank and Vito Sgro.

A visitation for Frances will be held Sunday, January 5th at 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Boyd – Caratozzolo Funeral Home in Deer Park, NY. Committal service will be held on Monday, January 6th at Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River, NY.
