

Harriett Elizabeth Jones-Wilds, daughter of the late Lonnie and Harriett Jones, was born in Wake County, North Carolina on May 10, 1935. She departed this life on Thursday July 20, 2023 at South Shore University Hospital. She began her formal education at Riley Hill Elementary School and graduated from James E. Shepherd High School in Zebulon, North Carolina. In her early years she accepted Christ and joined Riley Hill Baptist Church at a young age. She moved to Brooklyn, New York in the late 1950’s and later moved to Wyandanch, NY. In 1960, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Edward Wilds.
She was employed by various companies and organizations throughout her lifetime. She retired from Suffolk County Developmental Disabilities Center as a Nurse’s Aide.
Harriett was an active member of the Community Nazarene Church. She served faithfully as an usher serving as President of the Usher Board for many years. She was a devoted member of the women’s ministry sponsoring trips to Sight and Sound Performing Arts Ministry in Lancaster, PA. She also aided the community by volunteering her time working with the church’s food pantry ministry. She truly loved her church family and developed many close and loving relationships that she truly cherished.
Harriett was a quiet- warm hearted woman who loved her family dearly. She loved reading the Bible, solving word puzzles, drinking Pepsi, and watching her favorite team, the NY Yankees. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and was very close to her nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, James Jones, Mary Lucas, Omer Towns, Esther Alston, Ervie Lee Jones, Dureamer Dunn, Charles- Lindberg Jones, Earlene Horton and Queen Baker.
Harriett leaves to cherish her memories, her children Daphne Robinson and Edward R. Wilds Sr., her grandchildren Kristel Foreman, Edward R. Wilds Jr., Whitney Robinson, Gerard Robinson, Jacob Wilds. Her great grandchildren Makiah and Makenzie. Two sister-in-laws Alsenion Rozell and Betty Wilds. Four Godchildren, Diane Jones, Thurston R. Horton Sr. (preceded in death), LaToya Bradshaw, and Yolanda Farris along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
