Dear Lin’s Family:

As a Dr. Lin’s student, I was so heartbroken to hear about his passing. Please know that my heart is with your entire family.

He was more than a mentor to me; he was a guiding light in the night, like a father. I will always cherish the time he spent coaching us during our residency training and the wisdom he shared with us. The sentence he always repeated to us “Where There Is a Will, There’s a Way”. I greatly appreciate his endless advices and encouragement which contributed tremendously to our successful careers.

The world has lost a truly great soul, and I know his legacy will live on through the many people, like me, whom he inspired.

In Loving Memory of Dr. Jen H. Lin, MD

I had the great privilege of being Dr. Lin’s pathology resident from 2007 to 2011. 
Dr. Lin was not only an outstanding mentor and teacher, but also like a father to us—dedicated, caring, and deeply committed to our growth. His wisdom, kindness, and encouragement will always be remembered with gratitude and love.

Beyond teaching, Dr. Lin cared deeply for each of his residents and our families. After graduation, he continued to stay in touch, always joyful to hear about my children’s milestones. Knowing that I love hiking, he enjoyed seeing the photos I shared from local and European trails. He even remembered my elderly mother’s eye surgery and corneal transplant—something that touched me deeply. My 90-year-old mother still remembers Dr. Lin with fondness and gratitude.

Throughout my career, I often recall Dr. Lin’s guidance and example—his kindness, humility, and dedication to both medicine and people. I am forever grateful for his mentorship and encouragement, and will always miss him dearly.

The passing of Dr. Jen H. Lin, a deeply respected Pathology Chair and Program Director at Nassau University Medical Center, leaves a profound void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. Dr. Lin was not only a brilliant diagnostician and dedicated educator but also a tireless advocate for his residents and faculty. His commitment to excellence set a high standard for his residents, fostering a culture of rigorous inquiry, compassionate care, and mutual support. He will be remembered for his insightful mentorship, which shaped countless careers, and his quiet strength, which guided our program through many challenges. I was lucky and proud of being one of his many residents from 2007 to 2011. I never forget that he called his peers  when I was in a hard time to find a job even though he retired. He was so happy when I told him that I became a chief pathologist earlier this year. Dr. Lin's enduring legacy is etched in the success of his trainees and the spirit of collegiality he instilled, and he will be deeply missed.

In memory of Dr. Jen H. Lin, MD.

Dr. Lin, our mentor, teacher, leader, and father of pathology residents 2003-2007.  
every early morning of four years, you held our hands, walking through Q building to blood bank, chemistry, microbiology, and hematology lab. 
every moon, you shared hematopathology cases, bone marrow smears, and teaching slides with us. 
every early evening, you interpreted every projector slide of surgical pathology.
i remembered your last visit to the department you worked 35+ years, in 2016. That year, I went back to work in our place full of 4 years memories.  
after 2011, we remembered you had lunch party with your children students in seafood restaurant every year, we enjoyed family time together.  we brought our children to the party, we laughed, shouted, and sang like one.

In Memory of Dr. Jen H. Lin, MD

I was heartbroken to learn of the passing of Dr. Jen H. Lin, my former Pathology Residency Program Director. 
Dr. Lin was more than a teacher. He was a true mentor, guide, and a shining example of compassion in medicine. His dedication to his residents went far beyond professional duty; he cared deeply about each of us as individuals.

I will never forget the kindness he showed me when he visited after my terrible car accident. In one of the hardest moments of my life, his presence brought comfort and reassurance that I will always remember. That simple act reflected who he was; thoughtful, compassionate, and genuinely devoted to those he mentored.

Dr. Lin’s influence continues to shape how I approach both medicine and life; with empathy, patience, and integrity. His legacy lives on in all the lives he touched.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues.
May his memory be a blessing, and may the kindness he shared continue to inspire all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Dr. Lin always held a special place in my heart. We worked together for many years, he was an amazing boss!
He was the first person I told when 
Dr.Lester Freedman and I started dating. 
Dr.Lin told me we were like a lock and key. 
Les bought me a beautiful necklace that was a lock and key engraved with our names. We were very happily married for 11 years, until his death 3 years ago.
Dr.Lin will always be remembered with a smile.
