OBITUARY

José Pepe Agosto, Jr., affectionately known as Pep, was the first child of Joe and Marthena Agosto. He was born on August 23, 1965, in Brooklyn NY. He had two younger sisters: Audra Agosto and Adriane Allen. In the early 1970’s, the Agosto family moved to the suburbs of Wyandanch NY, where Pep was educated in the Wyandanch School District. He was very bright and was often named to the Honor and High Honor Rolls to acknowledge his academic excellence. Pep was also a natural athlete and excelled in many sports. He participated in everything from wrestling, basketball, football, and baseball, his greatest love.

Pep loved his NY Teams: The Yankees, The Giants, The Knicks and even the Mets, but he was NEVER a Jet fan. You’d often see him wearing a fitted cap or jerseys and he was always in front of the television on game day. He also loved Hip Hop and tried his hand at rapping and deejaying for a couple of years. He loved classic rap and knew every word KRS1, Rakim, Busta Rhymes and others said.

Pep followed his own path and made fast friends wherever he went, including Elfair, Supreme and Tayvon. He loved his children and made every effort to participate in their lives. He enjoyed spending time with them when he could, telling stories, joking, and enjoying life. He also made a point to check-in with family members and mother-like figures such as his Aunt Auggie and Cookie Hawkins, a dear friend of his deceased mother.

José Pepe Agosto, Jr, passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2021. He is survived by his father, Joe Agosto (Hilda); two daughters: D’jhane Agosto (mother, Tamika Ricks) and Amaya Williams (mother, Stephanie Williams); his sisters: Audra Agosto Gutierrez (Mark Gholson) and Adriane Allen-Wilson (Duquan Wilson). He also leaves behind brother-in-law, James Gutierrez; and three nephews: Shaquille Ricks, Marcus Gutierrez, and Joshua Gutierrez. There are many, many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Agosto and Brown families; too many to name. José was predeceased by his devoted mother, Marthena Agosto, his eldest daughter, Erica Susan Alford (mother and close friend, Lisa Alford), and his only niece, Taylor Hope Gutierrez.
