Joseph Edward Fleming
February 17, 1930 – May 4, 2022

Joseph Edward Fleming, age 92, of Dix Hills, New York passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. A man of science and faith. After graduating from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn NY) with B.E.E. degree enlisted in Army, serving for two years during the Korean War, rising to rank of Staff Sergeant. Joined Sperry Gyroscope as research engineer, pursuing his education in night school to degrees of M.E.E. and M.S.E.E., where he helped develop Naval Radars and Fire Control Systems for over forty years from where he retired. Lived on his own terms until the last day of his life, when he passed quickly of heart failure.
Beloved father of Maureen Fleming Gorsen, Daniel Joseph Fleming (Maureen), and Karen Marie Fleming, loving grandfather of Daniel Fleming Jr. (Megan), Casey Fleming Ramos (Justin) , Joseph Edward Fleming II, Benjamin Peter Gorsen and Zachary Ian Gorsen, loving great grandfather of Abigail Shea Fleming, and uncle, great uncle and great great uncle to dozens and dozens of beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Elizabeth, his cherished sister Joyce Duhning, all of his treasured brother and sister-in-laws, and his parents, Joseph (Harry) Fleming and Marian (nee De Angelo).
A visitation for Joseph will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Claude R. Boyd/Caratozzolo Funeral Home, 1785 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, New York 11729. A mass of christian burial will occur Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 9:45 AM at St Matthew RC Church, 35 N Service Rd, Dix Hills, New York 11746. Interment to follow at St Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, New York 11785.
