Marc was born in Deer Park, New York on April 21, 1966. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1984 before playing soccer at Hofstra University. Marc joined the Air Force in 1986 as Senior Airman and an F16 fighter mechanic. He was stationed at Hahn Airforce base in Germany, where he enthusiastically embraced Octoberfest and skiing in the Swiss Alps. Marc joined the NYPD in 1992 and spent many years in OCCB/Brooklyn North Narcotics before joining the Ballistics Unit. After September 11, 2001, Marc worked relentlessly at Ground Zero and his patriotism urged him to re-enlist in the military, this time serving in the Navy as Crew Chief with the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. His military career took him all over the world from Germany to the Middle East. Marc retired from the NYPD in 2016.
Marc is survived by his wife, Dawn Lotter. They lovingly combined their family of Bryanne, Nolan and Colette Lotter and Jessica and Joseph Lutrario. Above all else, Marc was a dedicated father to all his children.
Through the years, Marc enjoyed hunting, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his family and friends. With his wife, they bought their dream home in Tennessee to be closer to his good friend, Jack Daniels. Most recently Marc and Dawn traveled in their camper and visited all 50 States. Marc’s enthusiasm for life was not diminished by cancer.
Marc was fearless and never let anything stand in his way or his voice go unheard. He was the friend that anyone could count on and will be missed endlessly.
Marc lost his battle with pancreatic cancer caused by 9/11. His family wishes to extend a special thanks to their family and friends that stood by Marc during his illness.
In his memory and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
