To many she was better known as Peggy. A native of Brooklyn, NY and graduate of St. Edmond’s High School, Peggy was born on December 9, 1935, one of six siblings. She always carried a certain Irish wit with her all the way until the end. She could light up a room with her unsuspected humor and was quick to keep you on your toes. An avid harmonica player who taught herself and could play by ear, her talents were unmatched. Peggy was often the life of a party and certainly enjoyed herself and the friends she kept around.
She was a proud member of the Deer Park High School administration office for many years and took great pride in her work and her town. Despite her humble beginnings and loss of her father at a very young age, she claimed many accomplishments in her lifetime, not the least of which was being an exemplary mother and grandmother. She strove to teach her family the merits of integrity, compassion, and honor. She dedicated her life to her family. Predeceased by her brothers, James and John and sister, Mary-Ellen, and survived by many beloved family members including her son, Joseph, grandchildren – Brianne, Sean, and Molly, great-grandson Liam, sisters Ann Marie, and Bernadette; as well as her many nieces and nephews. Peggy will be forever cherished in the hearts of many. How much do we love her, you may ask? A bushel and a peck.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 9, 2023, at 11:15am at St. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church; 125 Half Hollow Rd, Deer Park, NY 11729, with burial immediately following at St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale.
