The life of Victoria V. Tay, BSN, MPS, RN, 76 years young, was tragically taken from this world on Monday evening, May 21st. There are no words that truly express the sorrow and loss felt by her family, friends, and colleagues both here and abroad. Victoria, beloved mother of Peter, John, and Nancy, grandmother to her adoring granddaughters Hannah and Sophie, was born in Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines, in the year 1941. She has resided in Huntington Station for the past 39 years. She is the daughter of and pre-deceased by her parents, Matilde Alerta Celis and Numeriano Jupanda Villaprudente. Victoria further leaves behind her 2 brothers, Joe and Camilo, 2 sisters, Guia and Cely, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and countless friends.
She lived her life as a dedicated servant to the Lord of her faith. Victoria was an active parishioner of Saint Matthews Church and a member of the Rotary Club of Commack-Kings Park for over a decade. The blessings of her kind and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her but will never be forgotten by the many lives she touched.
Victoria was a Registered Nurse that served the needs of the mentally afflicted for decades. More recently she was most passionate about building safe waterways in her home town in the Philippines and creating bus shelters.
For those who feel moved to honor Victoria’s memory, the family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Commack-Kings Park Charitable Fund Inc. These donations will be designated to support safe drinking water projects in the Philippines and potentially a bus shelter in Vicky’s honor.
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” Marcus Aurelius
