

He was born on March 7, 1934 in Miami, Florida, to Mr. and Mrs. Barney Edward Chalker Sr. Eddie attended Deerfield Beach Elementary and Pompano Beach High School. He graduated from Florida State University where he was a member of ATO Fraternity, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served in the U.S. Army, 1957-1960 and was honorably discharged as E-5 Sergeant. Eddie married his college sweetheart, Amelia Sinclair Chalker on June 21, 1959. Their joy in life was their two children, Bradley Edward Chalker of Deerfield Beach, and Elizabeth Lane Chalker of Lighthouse Point. Their grandsons, Bradley Eric Chalker and Robert Lee Chalker of North Carolina, were lights in their lives.
Eddie was a loyal and devoted son, husband, dad, and grandfather. His diligence and hard work was a true blessing for us all. His faith in God was evident in how he took care of his family and animals alike.
Eddie had a long career in international logistics, sales and marketing. He was employed by REA Express and Burlington Northern Air Freight. In 1986 he joined Hellmann International Forwarders where he stayed until retirement. He mentored many in sales and marketing throughout his career.
He served on the Deerfield Beach Planning and Zoning Board, Board of Adjustment and Civil Service Exam Committee. He was a Shriner. Eddie also coached Little League baseball, where both of his children played. As coach, he had three championship teams.
Eddie was involved in the Boca Railroad, where his father was the station master and also a long term Deerfield Beach Mayor. Eddie was involved in Pioneer days in Deerfield Beach and prominent in his community. He had a passion for FSU football, fishing, animals, working with his hands, and his family.
Eddie is survived by his son, Bradley Edward Chalker, his daughter, Elizabeth Lane Chalker, two grandsons; Bradley Eric Chalker and Robert Lee Chalker, as well as two nieces; Marcia Yolman and Melanie Folson (Frank) of Pompano Beach, and grand nieces and nephews. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife (together for 64 years) Amelia Sinclair Chalker; his parents, Barney Chalker Sr. and Myrtis Lane Chalker, and his sisters; Norma Cope (Forrest), and Lorraine Harry (Franklin).
Funeral services will be held at Deerfield Beach Kraeer on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11 am, followed by a celebration of life at his home in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, it was Eddie’s wish that donations be made to the Humane Society of Broward County, Florida.
