Giovannina Santoro

July 11, 1931January 31, 2020

Giovannina (Solitro) Santoro, age 88, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, previously of Worcester, Massachusetts, was called to her heavenly home on January 31, 2020. She was born July 11, 1931 in Vieste (Foggia), Italy to Matteo and Laura (Tantimonaco) Solitro.

She immigrated to the United States in 1954 for a better life working various jobs to support her family. But her passion was cooking her delicious Italian meals, traveling, and most of all her family.

Everywhere she went she touched lives with her warmth, charm, and upbeat personality. Her wisdom, strength, and courage taught us all the values of hard work and its rewards.

Survived by her two daughters, Angela Mantha of Spencer, Massachusetts and Joanne Santoro of Deerfield Beach, Florida; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Antonio and Nicole Solitro of Worcester, Massachusetts as well as many nieces and nephews. Her beloved dog, Jack, misses her very much.

Predeceased by her husband, Michael Santoro in 2015; daughter, Laura Merulla in 2013; son, Michael Peter in 1995; grandson, Vincent Merulla, Jr in 2018; brothers, Marino, Giuseppe, Michele, and John Solitro; sisters, Rose Meriano, Mary Ragno, and Maria Piracci; son-in-laws, Vincent J Merulla, Sr in 2012 and Kenneth J Mantha in 2019.

You will be forever in our hearts.
