Hello Mommy Lydia. It’s Kailey, your granddaughter, I was not born when you left but manang told a story about you that made me realize how hard it was to see you gone,  it was very hard for me to learn what happened when you left, and when I look at your relationship with manang I see how great you are and how inspiring you are,   I love and miss you and hope to see you for the first time, I only see pictures and listen to stories about you, and you inspired me to do many things.

I guess it is time to say goodbye Manang Lydia. You were always FULL OF LIFE! Remember the days when we went to Key West. For a day, it felt like we were all college spring breakers..., when it was time for continental all you can eat breakfast, you and Uncle Rizal's jacket was stuffed well..., when we went to Niagara Falls, I rescued you from crossing the Canadian border..., and when we went home to Florida from New Jersey, you asked us to bring a boxful of used clothes! Leo picked those boxes in the airport bickering.. And of course, I wont forget the scenario of removing your white hairs in New Jersey. I could go on and on... But mostly, I want to thank you for treating me like your own daughter. Somehow, I feel like you have always given me a high regard. I am so grateful for being part of your life. Rest in peace Manang Lydia. May your family especially Claire find comfort from all the memories you left behind.

Manong Roger and family and to Manong Rizal: 

To express in words the sentiments you all feel in the passing of Manang Lydia is really inadequate. I personally met Manang Lydia on my summer vacation with Manong Rizal in 1970's in Batac. What a memorable vacation I had and Manang Lydia was instrumental in making my stay very much welcomed. For those brief few days, I have known her to be a very accommodating and pleasant lady. I am very sad and sorry to learn of her passing and my deepest sympathy goes to everyone in the family, especially to Manong Roger, Rizal, Jenny & Farley and the kids. 

Inspite of Manang Lydia's passing, please remember this passage: 

"Those we love don't really go  away,  
They walk besides us everyday,
Unseen, unheard but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very, very dear."

Although I was not under Ma'am Lydia's wings during my elementary days, she made a strong impression on me. I have always known her to be an assertive, no-nonsense lady, with a good sense of humor.  My mom,dad and myself were deeply saddened when we learned about ma'am lydia's passing recently. Words cannot really describe to express our deep sorrows. My mom is a very good friend of ma'am lydia since their high school days @ batac institute. they're like sisters, so close with each others company.I can't really imagine how my mom  will cope with the loss of one of her dearest friends. Ma'am lydia was like my second mom too.She was one of the sources of my inspirations in life and i will never forget her for this. the memory of her will always be in our hearts. ... Loved and forgiven, now in the presence of her Lord and Saviour JESUS CHRIST ...

Her life, after receiving God's forgiveness and free gift of salvation thru the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, had been marked by prayer, humble submission to God's will and sovereignty, and dependence on His provision and care.

Years of physical life for Mommy Lydia just ended, but the spiritual life God imparted on her that glorious day through faith in Jesus Christ is continuing because it is eternal.


To the bereaved family, may you find God's presence, strength and comfort at this time of sorrow.

The poem and its message is already embedded in my mind and my heart. She will always be remembered for her vibrant outlook on life, great sense of humor and for the great teacher that she was. Rest in peace Maam.
