Mary Edith Young
September 9, 1926 – April 2, 2018
Mary Edith Young, 91, of Pompano Beach, FL passed away at 6:24 AM on April 2, 2018. Mary was born September 9, 1926, the daughter of Bill and Ada Wilson in Louisville, IL. Mary had 5 siblings: Dale, Lester, Hazel, Fern and Violet. All have passed with the exception of Violet who still resides in California.
In 1944, Mary married John Spinner. Before John's death in 1963, John and Mary had three children: John, Jerry Lester, and Janet. John passed in 2000 of cancer, and Jerry Lester died at childbirth. Janet survives and has been a strong pillar to her mother during her later years.
Janet is married to Dr. Raymond Ebmeier. They had one son, Brian, who passed in 2012, two daughters: Dr. Pam Ebmeier and Dr. Cheryl Ebmeier-Valenzuela, married to Mauricio Valenzuela. Mary later met and married Bob Young in South Bend, IN. She enjoyed a 20+ year marriage to Bob Young and moved to Albuquerque, where Bob passed in 1993. At that time, she moved back to Carmi, IL to be close to her daughter Jan. In 2003, she made her last move to Florida to be totally involved in the care of her great granddaughters, Kaylee and then Olivia. Mary acted as full-time caregiver for the girls and enjoyed being actively involved in the Ebmeier-Valenzuela family life. They had a very special bond. Besides family, her favorite pastime activity was playing cards, walking and caring for her dog Pepper of 15 years. She attended Christ Community Church of Pompano Beach.
Mary is survived by and was extremely proud of her three granddaughters, Dr. Pam Ebmeier OD, Dr. Cheryl Ebmeier-Valenzuela OD and RN BSN Nancy Hernandez. Nancy (daughter of John and Pat Spinner) and her husband Vic Hernandez gave Mary two great grandsons, Tyler (13) and Alex (9) that reside in Albuquerque, NM. Cheryl and Mauricio Valenzuela gave her two great granddaughters Kaylee (14) and Olivia (11) Valenzuela from Pompano Beach, FL.
Her final wishes were to be cremated and the immediate family to not mourn but to "Celebrate" her life!
