

Raymond Clayton Maxwell, age 80, of Deerfield Beach, Florida passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. Born in Elyria, OH, to Burton and Dorthea (Stich) Maxwell, he is survived by his wife of 58 years Gislhaine (deMontaigne), his children Raymond (Misty) Maxwell, Jr. and Monique Wilkinson (Ron), three grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Raymond served four years in the United States Navy after graduating from Elyria High School. Following his Naval service, Raymond began a successful career in the automotive body industry, building a reputation as a respected, honest and hardworking expert in the field as the owner of a body shop, a manager at prominent dealerships in New Jersey, Ohio, and Florida, and a 20-year employee of State Farm Insurance Company. In retirement, he applied his craft to restoring classic Oldsmobiles, winning many awards at local car shows. Raymond was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, including the Men’s Club. A beloved son, husband, father, brother, “Papa,” colleague, and friend, Raymond will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 217 E Hillsboro Blvd., Deerfield Beach, FL, 33441. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 380 S. Federal Hwy., Deerfield Beach, FL 33441. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Deerfield Beach Memorial Cemetery, 380 NE 6th Ave, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441.
