Rob loved working on stuff, mechanical and musical stuff. Early on it was guitars and cars—nitrous oxide boosters and badass subwoofers. He turned his love for working on stuff into a job with Overhead Door Company, first in Baltimore and then in Pompano Beach. Rob was happy to leave behind the cold of Maryland to make a fresh start in the Sunshine State, though he missed his daughter, Laylee, intensely. His heart ached for his “Lil’ Laylee bug."
Whether it was growing up in Texas, growing up more in Maryland or making the move to Florida, Rob always made friends easily. It is quite possible Rob had the warmest, friendliest smile in all of history, which makes sense because he was the best, most genuine and loyal friend anyone could ask for.
He is survived by his beautiful, blue-eyed 3-year old daughter, Laylee Marie Hayes, his mother and stepfather, Wanda and James Roberts and siblings Heather Roberts and Jules Roberts all of Denton, Texas, his father, John Hayes of Pasadena, Maryland, Laylee’s mother, Shannon Slaughter also of Pasadena, as well as his grandmothers, aunts, uncles, many cousins and a ridiculous amount of amazing friends.
"Ya live, you learn, you die, at least I’m still learning” — Rob Hayes, December 26, 2015.
We love you and miss you, Rob. It’s hard to believe that now we must learn to live without you.
