Aka Vera Lillian Davies
May 14, 1929 – July 28, 2026
Vera Lillian Richardson (Dietrich Davies), 97, she passed in July 2026. Vera was born and raised in Farmington Hills/Detroit Michigan and moved to Florida in February of 1956. Dad Davies said he could have his painting career in Florida all year long with no winter months! She preceded her husbands John Paul Davies deceased in December 22, 1999 and Minot Neal Richardson in August 12, 2021 and her two sons and daughter in law, John Lance (Mary Susan) Davies and Steven James Davies.
Vera had 5 children (3 born in Michigan and 2 in Florida) Valerie Sue (Doug) Richardson, John Lance (Mary Susan) Davies, Steven James (Cindy) Davies, William Edward (Sandy) Davies and Carrie (Robert) Benson. Mom always said she never had in laws they all were her kids. She has 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters. Our Davies family keeps growing, Wow a total of 52 with their spouses and all the kids. Mom would say Carrie had the grand dogs no kids.
I know now why God planned it this way so Robert and I could take care of our parents his and mine. After Minot’s death we moved Mom back to South Florida in August of 2021 to assisted living and then to memory care in November of 2025.
Mom said she was tired and ready to go home to the Lord to be with all her family and loved ones waiting. We are Blessed Mom is at Peace.
Mom worked a career in banking with Florida Coast Bank, to Barnett Bank then retired from Bank of America.
Mom always helped with PTA schools, selling refreshments at high school football games. Driving us to the roller skating rink and school functions. Mom worked hard to give us kids the things we needed to make it in life. Mom was bright, smart and always had a smile on her face even when she was going through some tough times. I must say Mom’s ability and determination to get things done for our family with her concerns for all her kids and her teachings will be with us for our lifetime.
Her smile was perfection! I have heard from many of my friends and family her smile is Epic, Priceless and beyond the happiest smile they have seen. They loved my postings and following of Mom’s life with social media. I planned the trips, 50th Wedding Anniversary to Vegas, our family reunion, her 90th Birthday and called Bingo and parties at her assisted living homes.
I had taken Mom to her Doctor visits, all the emergency room visits, doing laundry and getting her supplies. I would do it all over again with no complaints anything for our mother. I could not have done all this without the help financially and emotional support from my husband, brother and sisters to cover the costs of assisted/memory care living.
Minot thank you for loving our Mom and giving us a veterans benefit which helped us. I am thankful for making memories and caring for our dear Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. Our family will miss you deeply but you will be in all our hearts forever until we meet again. Rest in peace Mom. Love you bunches and bunches your loving daughter Carrie and all your children, our family and friends that called you Mom.
Our Celebration of Life will be held on September 5, 2026 @ 130pm at Palms West Presbyterian Church 13689 Okeechobee Blvd, Loxahatchee, Florida 33470.
A Church service followed with a luncheon from Missions BBQ at the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers a donation to Alzheimer’s Association. Cremation services with Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home, Deerfield Beach, Florida
