

He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 7, 1936 to Doyle and Mary Coffman. He married the love of his life, Myrtle “Laverne” on June 8, 1957, and they had two children, Vernon Lee and Alfred Clay. Alfred worked as a city employee, and retired from the City of Oklahoma City Water Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing his fiddle, and watching OU football. Alfred was loved by everyone who knew him and he touched many lives with his loving spirit and the many stories he told while reminiscing the olden days.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Laverne; his son Vernon Lee; two sisters Govie and Ila Mae; and five brothers Webster, Benny, Doyle, Rufus, and Bobby.
Alfred is survived by his devoted son Alfred “Clay” of Oklahoma City; his daughter-in-law Penny Richardson and husband Dale of Oklahoma City; his three granddaughters Sandy Gore and husband Jeremy of Piedmont; Lisa Miller and husband Lee of Oklahoma City; and Kristina Bate and husband Robert of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren Tyler Gore and wife Megan, Kaylee Hallman and husband Caden, Bailie Miller, Hunter Bate, Brody Miller, and Tommi Bate; and two precious great-great grandsons Travis and Walker Gore. He is also survived by two brothers Charles “Schowerke” and wife Wanda, and Joe and wife Diane; one sister Mary; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Alfred will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home at Sunny Lane Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City OK 73115. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
