She resided in Stratford, OK, for a short time before relocating to Blackwell, OK, where her family survived the F5 Blackwell tornado on May 25, 1955. The family soon moved to Del City, where she attended Del City Public Schools, graduating in 1966.

Her favorite quote was, “But for the grace of God go I.” She was known for her honesty and devotion to all those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and her daughter, Connie Hope Jeffery.
