On Friday August 12, 2022 just days after his 83rd birthday Arnold Dean Lloyd passed peacefully in his sleep, comfortably surrounded with love. Arnold was born in a log cabin in Major County outside of Chester, Oklahoma on August 3, 1939. He spent his early years working his grandfather's farm hauling hay and farming the land. Along the banks of the North Canadian River, he grew up catching catfish and playing football for the Seiling Wildcats. After graduating in 1958, he joined the United States Air Force where he learned to service jet engines. While stationed in Texas, he met his bride Barbara and they married in her hometown in Arkansas on August 7, 1964. Arnold left the service in 1970, bought a little home in Del City, Oklahoma where he would live for over 50 years. They raised two daughters in a loving home enjoying yearly extended family vacations, weekends back on the farm, leading his family with his firm but thoughtful love. He worked for Oklahoma Gas and Electric building a career to garage foreman keeping their entire fleet of vehicles operational and well serviced. Arnold enjoyed the years he spent chasing his daughters around school, coaching ball and acting as band parent. He was responsible for hauling around the trailer of band instruments and could be found at every Friday night football game popping popcorn at the concession stand. He retired from OG&E and returned to work for Horizon Equipment. While his sport interests began with football he grew to enjoy watching WWE, Little League World Series, and the WBNA. He thoroughly loved being at Lake Eufaula with his family and being out fished by his bride Barbara. Arnold was a loving husband who grew his wife a yard full of beautiful flowers, a strong father who taught the most beautiful life lessons, a kind grandfather with a warm heart, he was the uncle that helped his nephews solve their car problems, the uncle that taught all the kids how to water ski, the boss that knew how to find the solution, the man that took care of his own.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Lloyd, his infant son Timothy Lynn Lloyd, his parents Earnest and Opal Lloyd, his brother James 'Jim' Lloyd, his sister Colleen Hickman and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. He is survived by his daughter Tammy Herndon and her husband Jason, his daughter Michelle Renee Tanodra and her husband Arnold, his grandchildren Brittany Anderson, Brendon Bergman, Kaitlyn Smith, Molly Kate Herndon, Ireland Herdon, Aena Tanodra, Aeona Tanodra and his great grandchildren Brookelynn and Madison Minnick, Hunter and Payzlee Chavez, Jaxon and Lyla Smith. He will be missed and remembered by countless others that are related both by blood and by love.
