Arthur Eugene Golden was born in Hinton, Oklahoma on September 5, 1935 to Delmar and Minnie Golden, being one of 5 children. He passed from this earth June 25, 2022. Though he only completed the 6th grade, he enjoyed a successful career as a truck driver. Arthur took great pride in the arrival of each of his grandchildren and their graduations. Events that also brought great pride to him were the day he dedicated his life to Christ and the day he and Arlena, his wife of 50 years, rededicated their lives to each other in a re-marriage ceremony. Over the years, he had membership in the Meshack Baptist Church and the Little Axe Baptist Church. Working his land, fishing, going to the lake, and watching western movies, especially John Wayne, were activities that added much enjoyment to his days. Nothing was better, though, than taking his grandchildren to Braum’s for ice cream after returning from a road trip. He thought his family was the greatest achievement of his life. A day was a good one when he could treat himself to peanut butter cookies, vanilla ice cream, or peaches and a trip to Braum’s.
Arthur was preceded in death by his loving wife, Arlena in 2009, brother, George, and sisters, Norma Smith and Irma Thatcher. Surviving Arthur are sons, Timothy (Letha) Golden of Newalla, Anthony (Della) of Newalla, and Wendell McDaniels of California. Also surviving are daughters, Arthalena Thomas of Hinton, Regina “Kathy” (Larry) Gilley of Arkansas, and Jennie (Alic) Armstrong of Bokeelia, Florida. One sister remains, Mary Beasley of Oregon. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Never known to meet a stranger, there are so many that are happy to call him friend. He will be missed by all.
