

Audrey Joyce McDonald was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Audrey will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was the daughter of John Edward and Edith (Woods) Hill and she grew up in Norwich, England.
Audrey was raised with one brother, Eric Hill, whom she adored. She told many stories throughout the years which would explain the immense amount of love she held for her brother. Though Audrey and Eric were separated by distance for over 50 years, the two shared many letters that would keep them in touch.
Audrey finished high school at the age of 16 and went on to work at the Coleman Mustard Factory at the beginning of WWII. In 1945 Audrey met a strapping young U.S. Air Force Soldier by the name of James H. McDonald at a USO dance. After writing to one another for nearly a year, the two married on October 12, 1946, and shared 67 years together
Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Audrey enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. Later in life, she became best friends with Shirley Garcia, and would later gain the friendship and companionship of the ladies of the board or "Bored" meetings.
Empathic and loyal, Audrey was committed to making her new family happy. Audrey worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Audrey was blessed with two children, Linda and Jeanell. Another blessing for Audrey was the gift of four grandchildren, Gigi, Nikki, Jamie and Jeremiah.
Audrey enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were cooking, playing dominoes, knitting, crocheting and bowling. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Throughout her life, Audrey was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations, she was an active member of the Air Force Wives Club and a Girl Scout Leader while her girls where younger.
Audrey’s faith was important to her. She always attended church on the base in which they lived, but the last base chapel she was a member of was Tinker Air Force Base. During that time, she was a member of the Protestant Wives Club.
One day a little cat showed up at her backdoor and she started feeding it, this cat became her friend and she named it, Sweetie.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; and loving husband James. Survivors include her children, Linda Flakes and husband, John, Jeanell Jordan and husband, Warren "Tex"; grandchildren, Gigi Fergus and husband, Tim, Nikki Raichlin and husband, Andrew, Jamie Aumiller and husband, Shane, Jeremiah Jordan and wife, Laura; great-grandchildren, Grant, Zachary, Mercedes, Portia and Andrew; one brother, Eric Hill of England. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel in Del City, Oklahoma. Audrey was laid to rest in Sunny Lane Cemetery.
Simply stated, Audrey was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Audrey leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Audrey Joyce McDonald.
