Betty Lou Tow

February 23, 1932August 3, 2018

Betty Louise Hooper Tow died peacefully on August 4, 2018 a long time resident of Del City, Oklahoma. Betty was born in Reydon, Oklahoma February, 23, 1932 the daughter of Bess Hooper. Betty was married to W. T. Martin, Jr. having two children, Dennis Craig Martin, predeceased, and Deborah Lynn Stewart, of Oklahoma City, OK who cared for and treasured her mama dearly. She later married Garth Dewayne Tow, predeceased, of 39 years and gained four wonderful step-daughters: Dee Tow Martin, Diana Tow, Dana Kohl, Doris Jones and their partners. Soon enough they started welcoming grandkids into their lives and she quickly became the best grandmother to Denni Bryn Martin Lozza and Dallas WT Martin along with 12 other grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Betty was a supportive homemaker and gardener. Together with her husband, they raised three ducks as pets that became members of the family: Josie, JJ and Tiny. Betty was known for her koi ponds and raising live crickets and worms to feed her ducks and the many birds that would come up to her porch, dancing and pecking for food. Along with a squirrel she adored named Squirrel Betty would later become known “Grandma Birdie”. Her most cherished times would be celebrating Birthdays and the Christmas holidays, when all the family would gather at the home.

Still at 86 years old, when she wasn’t watching Chicago Cub’s baseball, Sam Bradford playing football or The Heat of the Night series, she would be playing cars and monster trucks with her great-grandson Harvey and laughing at Dylan. Birdie will be remembered for teaching her grandkids, Joe Martin Stewart, Betsy Anna Stewart Hunter and Natalie Rae Bass, the art of making mud pies and digging in her garden. For many years she would find joy in uncovering buried spoons and toys from by-gone years and sharing those memories with all that would listen.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Mathais and his staff for all many years of quality healthcare, love and support towards Betty.

Visitation will be 12-7pm on Tuesday, August 7th, at Eisenhower Funeral Home, with family present from 5-7pm. Services will be held at Eisenhower Funeral Home at 11am Wednesday the 8th, officiated by Bruce Smith. Burial will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Ok.

Mom always LOVED her BIRDS, GARDEN and her DUCKS. She taught me so much on how to feed and take care of them all. She was a Loving Mother and Mother In Law.
She is now with her Husband Garth and her Son Dennis, who is making her LAUGH as he always did!!!
