Beverly Faith Wood passed away at home on Friday, April 8th after a valiant battle with cancer and congestive heart failure. She loved her family, was fiercely independent and loved making Christmas a special time of year with elaborate home decorations as it was her favorite holiday.
Beverly was born in Holdenville, OK, grew-up there and in the Bay Area of California before graduating from Midwest City High School with the Class of 1957. As a young mom she played on a Mid-Del women’s basketball team while working as a certified Dental Assistant. She went on to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in the Dental Hygiene Program at Oscar Rose Junior College (now Rose State College) and to have a 26-year career as an Accredited Dental Hygienist in the Oklahoma City Metro Area. To stay active in retirement, she drove a school bus for the Moore Public School District for 10 years until health issues prevented her from continuing.
Through her 82 years she enjoyed collecting Depression-era Glass, Native American Art, scuba diving, Bible study, maintaining a well-appointed home, a beautiful backyard garden including African violets in the windowsills throughout most rooms. And most affectionately she loved her dogs, Frosty, Girl, Ozzie and Cleo who brought her great joy and provided her with many stories to share.
Beverly is survived by her children Donald Paul Lane and Steven Thomas Lane of San Antonio, TX; Teresa Maria Lane of Teaneck, NJ; grandsons Gabriel Lane Johnson, of Pittsburgh, PA; Trevor Bradford Johnson of Teaneck, NJ; and Paul Thomas Lane of San Antonio, TX; and former husbands Howard Paul Lane of Midwest City, OK (1957-1982) and Gregory Michael Talley, Sr. of Oklahoma City, OK (1985-2004). She is also survived by her brother William Hodge Wood and wife Beth Wood of Comanche, OK; nephews, Sean Cody Wood, Livingston, MT; Dalton Wood, Oklahoma City, OK; niece Cynthia Lynn Wood Lofquist, and grandniece Samantha Wood of Shawnee, KS.
She was preceded in death by her brother John Thomas Wood, parents Eva King Wood and Thomas Buford Wood, and cousin Jimmie R. Wood.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Friday, April 15, 2022, at 2pm, Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th St. in Del City, 73115.
