Billie was born July 31st, 1929 to Joseph R. Hatfield and Jane Noka Brown Hatfield.
Billie graduated from Seminole High school in 1947 where she excelled in both tennis and basketball. After graduating from high school, she went to work for attorney Charlie Grounds. Several years later she went to work for TAFB where she met, and married, Roger “Pete” Pendergast. She was an “Air Force” wife for over sixty years. During a break in their overseas travels, Billie and Pete had their son Roger Dean, in Shawnee, Okla. They would continue to travel as a family for years before settling in Del City, Okla. when Pete retired from the Air Force.
Billie did not miss one Del City High School Eagles home football game from 1975-1999. She attended these games along with her sister, Barbara Manning and remained an avid fan. Billie was also a talented painter, and bowler. She bowled in three leagues a week until at the age of 90; she slowed to just two leagues a week. She continued this pace until just a few months ago when she fell and broke her hip. Billie was left handed, but bowled with her right hand. She also played tennis with her right hand, but would perform a quick switch to the left hand if she needed to hit back hand. Billie loved to play bridge, and have lunch with her sisters. She was a member of The Red Hat Ladies, and also enjoyed volunteering with The Tinker Air Force Base Chapel ladies group. Billie belonged to the United Methodist church in Del City.
Billie Jo Pendergast was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roger “Pete” Pendergast. She is survived by her son, Roger, sisters Joyce Lofton and Barbara Manning, special friends Cory and Angie Tillery, and numerous nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
Billie was a treasure, and has many friends that will miss her laughter, great sense of humor, and spirit. She will truly be missed.
