

Bobby Lee Lucas was given by The Lord the gift of finishing a long fight with Alzheimer’s disease on May 9. 2015. Bobby was born on May 5, 1928 near Atoka, OK. He was the only child of Olen P. Lucas of Dryden, VA and Lue Ella Mead Lucas of Indian Territory, who both preceded him in death. Bobby was also preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Lee and Rosa Lee (Crabtree) Lucas, both of Dryden, VA., his grandson Charles Wayne Lucas, and both his half-brother and sister Eldred Wilson New and Mildred New Rutledge. Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Wanda Eaton Lucas and one son CWO3 Charles T. Lucas (US Army Ret.) and one daughter Marcia Lucas Ellington, and their spouses. He is also survived by his grandsons Christopher Lucas, Clayton Lucas, and Charles Micheal Brothers. His surviving great-grandchildren are Jade Relph-Lucas, Lucas Ray Brothers and Addison Ann Brothers. Bobby graduated from Lawton High School and attended Cameron University in Lawton, OK. He served his Country for two years in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone, and was a CWA union member. It was during a union strike that he met a gorgeous red-head (Wanda) that he later married. Bobby retired from Southwestern Bell as a Special Services Engineer after 38 years. He was a long-time member of Sunnylane United Methodist Church in Del City, where he belonged to the United Methodist Men. He was a perpetual member of the Del City Masonic Lodge #536 where he was awarded Mason of the Year in 1993. He also earned his 32nd Masonic Degree and was a DeMolay Advisor. Bobby was awarded the Zeus Award from the Epsilon Sigma Alpha organization in 1990 for his outstanding support of the ESA Ideals. He enjoyed woodworking projects for different groups. He had that experience from helping his father build the family home as a young man. In his later years he was an active member of the Del Aire Neighborhood Watch Association, and was devoted to feeding his backyard birds. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
