Brown Robert Hudson
July 7, 1920 – March 8, 2013
Brown Robert Hudson, 92, of Edmond, OK departed this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on March 8, 2013. He was born July 7, 1920 in Terre Haute, IN to Paul Monroe Hudson and Susie Mae Meadows and is survived by his beautiful wife Jeanne Chappell. Brown was the oldest of five children and helped raise four young sisters. His love of music began when his father taught him to play the trumpet as a young boy, and soon after was leading a band. He was president of the student body at Humboldt High School in Humboldt, TN. Brown attended Fort Wayne Bible College and later graduated from Franklin Tech in Topographical Engineering. In 1942, he was drafted into Military service and was assigned to the 948th Engineers attached to the 20th Bomber Command as an Army Engineer. After his service to our Country he attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago and worked as a commercial artist for 5 years. Brown worked as a planning consultant and as a community developer and was an integral part to many downtown developments, including Phoenix, AZ. He was actively involved in the church his whole life, and helped start the First Southern Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO. One of Brown's great passion's in his lifetime was his music. He was a very talented musician and loved to share his Godly gifts with many different churches and friends across the nation, and served as president of the Fine Arts Society of Texas while residing in Wichita Falls, TX. After moving back to Oklahoma City in 1992 Brown and Jeanne attended NW Baptist Church and later transitioned to First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. He was very active in the music program and was a member of the Family Singers Choir. Although he was recognized for his beautiful music, art and community service, he will be remembered most for the beautiful person and the Godly example he was to his peers. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mary Francis Graves, Iris Graves, and Faith Steiner. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his sister Grace McNeel, his children Paul Monroe Hudson, Melody Phylistice Hahn, Vicki Nelson, Gayle Higgs, and Deena Link. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 11:00 in the morning in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City located at 1201 N. Robinson Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy of Care Fund or the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.
